HIS WORK CAMP
HIS Work Camp has been
located in numerous places across the Midwest. It was designed for
high school students and launched in the mid-80’s.
Annville,
Kentucky was the first place Synod of the Heartland ventured too for
the high school Work Camp.
The next year they decided to head north and were in Winnipeg, Manitoba
(Canada) for the week.
From there, the Synod decided to move east and went to Tennessee.
Next on the list was Phillippi, West Virgina. The Work Camp stayed in
West Virginia over 10 years—and it naturally accumulated the name
West Virginia Work Camp.
In 2007, the work camp moved to Tennessee again. At that time the Youth
Ministry office decided to give the work camp an “official” name. And
that is how the name HIS (Hands In Service) Work Camp came about!
